Kathryn Barfield Moncus Briscoe, 95, of Dawson passed away on February 3, 2021 at Montezuma Health and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the graveside in Parrott City Cemetery with Dr. Emil Askew officiating.
Kathryn was born in Parrott on August 28, 1925. She was a lifetime resident of Terrell County. She started her working career at Cinderella Foods and then worked as an inspector at Coats and Clark. Kathryn was a member of Chickasawhatchee Baptist Church and was previously a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, where she was a Primary Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the WMU.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Oscar P. Barfield and Allie Powell Barfield; her husbands, Charlie M. Moncus and Paul D. Briscoe; a son, Richard S. Moncus, Sr.; and a brother, Wallace A. Barfield. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Moncus Christie and her husband Timmy of Bronwood; sister-in-law, Mary Beard Barfield of Rome; grandsons, Richard S. Moncus, Jr. of Clayton and Tim Christie, Jr. of Graves; great-grandchildren, Shawn Moncus and Kaleigh G. Moncus; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Chickasawhatchee Baptist Church of Dawson.
