Isaac Morris Chambless, 98, of Dawson passed away at home on November 11, 2020. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2020 in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Rev. Currie Spoon will officiate.
Mr. Chambless was born on May 4, 1922 in Terrell County to the late Wesley Griffin Chambless and the late Nancy Kirksey Chambless. He was the last of eight children, having been preceded in death by siblings, Ree Goode, Mary McPherson Goolsby, Willie Chambless, Wylie “Doc” Chambless, Clarence Chambless, George Chambless and Belle Cannon. Also preceding him in death were his first wife, Cleo Alligood Chambless; his second wife, Signa Belveal Chambless and his son, Michael Anthony Chambless. He is survived by stepdaughters, Angela Berry of Dawson and Cindy Bowers (Wayne) of Americus; grandchildren, Amber Chambless Withers of Ellaville and Becky Chambless Blanchard of Tifton; step-grandchildren, Branden Roberts (Becca ) of Leesburg and Anna Roberts of Americus; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and special caregivers, Shirley Harvey and David Walton.
Mr. Chambless was a retired farmer, having farmed his entire life, and a dedicated and long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Dawson, where he was also a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and member of the Choir. He graduated from Graves Public School and Norman Park College. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force. His first love was God and his church, his second love was his family, and his third love was Braves baseball.
