Kenneth Warren Anthony, 88, of Sasser passed away at Dawson Health and Rehabilitation Saturday, March 3, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Harvey Funeral Chapel in Dawson. A visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Dr. Emil Askew will officiate.
Mr. Anthony was born on June 4, 1929 in Sasser, Georgia. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War era. He was employed by Southern Bread for nineteen years and self-employed as owner/operator of Anthony Service Station in Sasser for twenty years, during which time he also farmed pecans and raised cattle. He spent ten years with Acosta Food Brokerage. Mr. Anthony held the public offices of County Commissioner for Terrell County District Four and as a member of the Terrell County Board of Health for twelve years. He was also a member of the Associated County Commissioners of Georgia ACCG Transportation Board for eleven years. He was active in the following service organizations: Mason Lodge 124, Scottish Rite Shriner Hasan Temple in Albany, the JC’s of Valdosta and the Kiwanis Club of Dawson. Mr. Anthony was also a member of Chickasawhatchee Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Hugh and Kate Anthony and a brother, William Anthony. Survivors include his wife, Helen H. Anthony of Dawson; daughter, Judy Fletcher (Wayne) of Sasser; brothers, Joe Rish Anthony (Frances) of Lawrenceville, Charles Anthony (Frances) of Ocala, FL and Richard Anthony (Beth) of Ocala, FL; granddaughter, Amanda Jones (Wayne) of Myrtle Beach, SC; great-grandchildren, Sarah and Ivy Jones of Myrtle Beach, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
