George Haron McLendon, 84, of Sparta, Georgia passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at The Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred McLendon, mother, Elizabeth McLendon, brother, Fred McLendon, Jr., wife, Nell Bridges McLendon, and son, George Michael McLendon.

Mr. McLendon was born in Sasser on October 5, 1927. He was a retired banker with Fulton National Bank in Atlanta. He also served on the Board of Directors in East Lake Community. He served in the Air Force and was a Mason and a Shriner. His hobbies included fishing and watching baseball, football and western movies.

Survivors include his daughter, Deborah A. Carter, son-in-law, Michael D. Carter, grandson, Aaron Michael Carter, and brother-in-law, Jimmy C. Bridges.

A funeral service will be held graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 with Rev. Jay Thomason officiating.
